Welcome to an Istanbul experience through a photo story!
The city
Something that you feel very keenly about, looking at the city, is the contrast between the buildings. You can see skyscrapers and ruins of houses at the same time..
The major thing that you notice in Istanbul is its religious and historic wealth, by the monuments and the great buildings.
Galata tower
Galata Tower is one of these buildings. It is a medieval stone tower and offers a panoramic view!
Blue mosque
The Blue Mosque can take your breath away with its overwhelming size and its majesty.
It is considered to be the last great mosque of the classical period!
The design is the combination of the traditional Islamic architecture with some Byzantine Christian elements of the neighbouring Hagia Sophia.
Hagia Sophia
Hagia Sophia was a Greek orthodox church, later an imperial mosque and now a museum!
It is one of the greatest surviving examples of Byzantine architecture!
It was designed by the Greek architects and scientists Isidore of Miletus, a physicist, and Anthemius of Tralles, a mathematician.
Art in a neighbourhood
But it's not only the historic great buildings that take place in Istanbul!
You can find art in simple houses too!
Gulhane park
And if you tend to nature, Gulhane park ( rosehouse park ) is there waiting for you..
It is a historical urban park, the oldest and one of the most expansive public parks in Istanbul.
Gulhane park was once part of the outer garden of Topkapi palace!
If you want to see more roses, better visit it on spring or summer.
And you can find art even at stores...
Sweet art too...
And materials to make food art!
Or watch it happening live!
Grand bazaar
And Grand Bazaar of course contains a big variety of artful pieces, and other useful stuff!
Food
And when you get hungry...
You can enjoy the delicious food, also with a big variety!
Taxim square
Istanbul can be an amazing artful experience...
from many points of view!
